One Daikon Radish

One Daikon Radish is made from a single nine-inch daikon, sliced, dehydrated, and hand-bound into an accordion-style book that measures four inches when closed. Expanding my practice of making paper from vegetables into the craft of bookbinding, I preserved each slice in sequence and connected them with thread. The resulting object expands and contracts, echoing the organic rhythms of breathing or growing. Daikon, an inexpensive and humble ingredient often overlooked, takes on a sculptural form that is both fragile and resilient, serving as a quiet meditation on transformation, preservation, and the flexible nature of memory.
