How to Tame a Wild Tongue

2019, 30” x 44”, Graphite drawing on Stonehenge paper

Inspired by Gloria Anzaldua’s essay How to Tame a Wild Tongue, this drawing is a manifestation of everything I feel as I speak a language that is not my first. Using woodwork magazines from the 90s and study abroad brochures to create a collage, I then turned it into a drawing to examine what it is to be bilingual and insecure.
