<Fallen Angels> @Nuun Gallery
To celebrate the inaugural exhibition, Fallen Angels, at the Nuun Gallery, I created an edible installation at the preview dinner inspired by the show’s cyberfeminist theme and the artists. Each dish reimagines the body, intimacy, and ritual through textures that veil, rupture, and reveal.
Ritual #1: The Severing Table
Offerings at the Altar
“Wings and idols are placed on the pedestal. Hands and teeth will rupture in tandem.”
- Shibari-bound sourdough, hung for tearing
- Miso garlic butter, ephemeral wings in flight
- Spicy harissa bean spread, red from sacrifice
- Seaweed pesto, the curse
Anointment of the Flesh
-
“Salts, roots, and tides prepare the body."
- Stracciatella veiled in tomato water jelly
- Spring crudités cloaked in dashi jelly
Claws and Carcass
“False claws carve simulated flesh; an animal ritual of feeding and surrender.”
- Squid ink cone, a brittle false claw
- Marinated olives and red peppers, speared and shining
- Squid and shrimp ceviche, soaked in citrus rites
Shattering
“The feast ends with fracture and revelation. A candy reliquary embedded with offerings"
- Sugar sheets with inlaid images and edible relics
